Through My Eyes
The Elder
I am a retired university administrator and former assistant professor of Political Science. A number of factors have contributed to my initiating this blog that I have chosen to call "Through My Eyes."
First, my daughters have been pestering me, for too long, to take the time to share some of my experiences, thoughts about things that interest me and my world view in writing.
Second, like so many other Americans, I have been knocked off my feet by Senator Barak Obama's campaign to become the first Black nominee of a major political party for the presidency of the United States of America!
Lastly, I have this a continuing urge, some might describe it as a need, to teach, to listen and most importantly to learn.
Perhaps it will help you, the reader, to understand that my world view, the questions that I ask and my answers to those questions will be eclectic. For example, three of the things that most of us are very concerned about are raising cost of gas, food, and the loss of jobs to offshore locations such as China.
Would some of you think that I am over the top if I suggest that China can provide the solutions to two of the three of our most immediate and pressing concerns? My suggestion about how to address our concerns about raisning gas prices is to ask the question:
"How many of you have ever heard of a High-Temperture Gas-Cooled Nuclear Reactor?"
The answer is that this process, if adopted, could lead to safe nuclear energy independence. Unfortunately, at least for now, it is being developed by China. (Actually, we could have developed this technology in the 1950s. But Admiral Rickover decided to go in a different direction with water cooled reactors in developing our nuclear submarine forces. Subsequently, commercial nuclear energy was similarly developed. )
The answer to the question of our concerns about the loss of jobs to China is simplicity in itself. We need to make available a greatly expanded range of commericial and duel use products for sale to China.

The real reason for initiating this Blog: "Through My Eyes" is to begin a dialogue and exchange with individuals who are interested in learning how to learn from Each Other.
Hopefully, someone will ask me to explain how it is possible for an Elder can, like me, for example, learn from a teenager or young adult?
Will You Join Me?
